Effective communication is critical to ensure engagement and understanding amongst all Trust colleagues in relation to fire safety and evacuation training. Working closely with the Fire safety Team the post holder will provide a key role in providing expert fire safety education, support and advice across multiple services and teams. They will be expected to forge positive and productive relationships with a broad range of staff, extending throughout the organisation at all levels. The ability to work independently and constructively in the educational and clinical environment is paramount in this role. The post holder will require highly developed communication skills with the ability to maintain a consistent, supportive and facilitative approach to all staff colleagues Key organisational relationships: Fire Safety Team: The post will form part of the Fire Safety Team, they will be required to work closely with all members, forming and maintaining excellent team-working practices. Ward /Hospital / Department Managers / Clinicians / Multi-Disciplinary Teams/ Service Leads across all services, where communication of education, process requirements and expert fire safety guidance will be frequently required. Effectively using the principles of adult training approaches to capture views and experiences relating to service provision. Work collaboratively with all members of the Learning and Development Team, specifically around availability of courses and recording of data on the electronic record system. Academy staff regarding venue use and specifics around training for all staff. Collaboratively working within the fire Safety Team in respect of evacuation equipment review and purchase. Acknowledge and accommodate barriers to communication and understanding including, hearing, speech, language and emotion, respecting the beliefs and customs of all who use the fire safety team's service. Effective contribution to groups and committees, with clear communication of fire safety training information. External relationships: Specialist advisory groups such as the National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers (NAHFO) as appropriate. Planning and Organisation: The post holder will participate in activities that permit the efficient, systematic delivery of fire safety management arrangements, providing operational support to the Fire Safety Team including: Management and prioritisation of allocated workload to meet strict fire safety related deadlines in a continually changing work environment, including the ability to incorporate additional / urgent training at short notice (training, competency assessment, audit). Plan, devise, develop, implement, deliver, manage and maintain robust fire safety education courses according to specific group competencies and requirements. This includes mandatory clinical and non - clinical aspects of fire safety training. Plan, set up and update education programs on the learning management system for fire safety. Maintain registers of attendance and competency sign off records in line with identified learning outcomes. Use effective up to date teaching/education methods to match learning styles, to bring a professional and reliable approach to the delivery of the training objectives as outlined by the Topic Lead for Fire Safety. Analytics: Analyse training requirements and ensure courses are managed and allocated in a timely manner for the requirements of the organisation. Run fire safety training reports, to assess, review and analyse the information to ensure sufficient Trust programs of fire safety training are met and are appropriate to the current trends and requirements. Working with own initiative where a training need has been identified either through audit or individual assessment and working with appropriate staff to resolve and provide training requirement. Review of fire safety data (external and internal sources) to analyse key trends in support of current and update fire safety information in support of education programs. This will include review of incident data. Creation and review of evaluation process post training courses analyse findings and share with key stakeholders as necessary. Amend training programs as identified to comply with the core competency standards. Responsibility for Patient / Client Care, Treatment & Therapy: The post is concerned primarily with the fire safety education training requirements for clinical and non- clinical staff. To provide this the post holder will need to maintain knowledge and best practice for fire safety. Policy, Service, Research & Development Responsibility: Contribute to the development and review of the Trust's Fire Safety Policy. Practice in line with the Trust Fire Safety Policy, and other associated national guidance / Trust Policies relevant to the post. Contribute to monitoring the effectiveness of all fire safety raining. Contribute to the review of Learning Frameworks for fire safety in support of the Topic Lead for Fire Safety. Contribute to the evaluation of fire safety training courses to review, research and develop future training requirements according to organisational needs Maintain and keep abreast of the evacuation aids and equipment types / styles available through research and trial evaluation in conjunction with procurement and the fire safety team. Promote fire safety regulations and associated best practice guidance / other sources of reliable evidence to inform practice. Undertake own personal and professional development to keep up to date on the latest practice and guidance within the area of service. To ensure competency and to keep abreast of the changing fire safety training techniques and learning environment. Responsibility for Finance, Equipment & Other Resources: Responsible for the safe and secure use of Trust equipment including laptop, phone, evacuation equipment in accordance with job role. To maintain an inventory of the Trusts evacuation equipment escalating any concerns to issues to the Fire Safety Team. Responsibility for Supervision, Leadership & Management: The post holder will, in line with the Trust's 'Leading and Listening' values: Work autonomously in the day-to-day delivery of the role, leading their own work to effectively prioritise and coordinate with others. Display leadership qualities in terms of their interactions with staff (including those in leadership positions) across the organisation. Be able to describe, explain and advocate for the engagement in the processes, serving as an 'ambassador' for fire safety within the organisation. Engage and supervise delegates during all fire safety education courses and associated sessions. Lead, supervise and co-ordinate the fire safety education programs for fire safety educational/ awareness programs for clinical and non-clinical staff This post can be challenging and requires significant confidentiality (e.g. knowledge of staff individual health issues to enable course participation); discretion and confidentiality in line with information Governance must be maintained at all times. Information Resources & Administrative Duties: The post holder will be required to: Use all Microsoft packages, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as the ability to create Teams meetings and educational platforms To collate as required qualitative and quantitative information needed for analysis Develop training resources including Power Point presentations and group work resources Preparation of course materials to support educational programs, including research of specific topics linked to fire safety, evacuation equipment and latest guidelines Access and utilise web-resources to the benefit of the programs and projects supported Any Other Specific Tasks Required: The post holder will work flexibly within the Fire Safety Team, contributing to the effective delivery of the broader support the team provides, including: Reports for the Fire Safety Committee, especially information relevant to the scope of the role. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as reasonably required by the Fire Safety Topic Lead (Head of Fire Safety).
